Entry & Language and Literacy Requirements
Entry Requirements*
VET Courses (Further Studies)
• Satisfactory completion of Year 12 or equivalent, or if enrolled in Certificate IV, Year 11 is required.
• Mature age students with work experience will be admitted through interview or submission of appropriate documentation.
• Students are expected to have the minimum English level of IELTS 5.5 (Hairdressing - IELTS 5.0); documentary evidence of this (or its equivalent) is required.
Note that the Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) requires certain countries to show an IELTS score of 5.5, irrespective of CIC’s requirements.

* Note that an assessment of your application (including supporting documentation) to enter a course at Cambridge International College, will be undertaken by an officer of the College who has the appropriate qualifications or experience to make the assessment. This is to ensure that you have the appropriate level of skills or experience to undertake the course.
Language Literacy & Numeracy
VET Courses
The College regularly assesses your language, literacy and numeracy needs and development and if necessary, may suggest that you undertake English classes in addition to your course.
The English Language Studies Department offers English classes that you can do to help you with your course, i.e. with academic writing or study skills. The College can also help you if you need help with your math skills.

Vocational courses
CIC has articulation agreements for its vocational courses with local universities
Victoria University (CRICOS 00124K)– Students who successfully complete the:
• Diploma of Community Welfare Work are able to gain at least one years advanced standing into the Bachelor of Social Work
Holmesglen Institute of TAFE (CRICOS 00012G) – Students who successfully complete the:
• Diploma of Community Welfare, Diploma of Business (Marketing), Diploma of Business (Frontline Management), Diploma of Multimedia or Diploma of Hairdressing (Salon Management) are able to gain 4 subject credits in the Bachelor of Business Administration.
Central Queensland University (CRICOS 01624D)- Students who successfully complete the:
•Certificate IV or Diploma of Marketing are able to gain advanced standing entry into Bachelor of Business
•Diploma of Multimedia/Graphic Pre Press able to gain advanced standing entry into Bachelor Multimedia



Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC)
It is a condition of your student visa (condition 8501) that you have private health insurance - Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) - for the length of your stay in Australia. The College arranges your OSHC through Worldcare. The Worldcare Overseas Student Health Cover web address is https://www.oshcworldcare.com.au. During orientation your OSHC will be explained to you. STUDENT VISA WORK RIGHTS
If you have a student visa you may apply for permission to work after you have started your course. You may work up to 20 hours per week in the weeks that your classes held. When your classes are not being held i.e. during course holidays you may work more than 20 hours per week.
FULL TIME STUDY
Overseas students must remain enrolled in a full-time course for the duration of their student visa.
Students Under 18 years of Age *
If you are under 18 years of age you should see the welfare officer for assistance or advice on any matter.
The Under-18 Welfare Officer is here to help you adjust to Australian life, and to assist you with any problems that might effect your studies. The Under-18 Welfare Officer will make a time to see you when you first arrive.

If you are under-18, Special Conditions apply to your Student Visa. Refer to Student Visa Condition 8532.
* Please note that the College does not enrol students under 18 years of age into courses delivered at the Adelaide campus. Also note that the Melbourne campus accepts enrolments from students under 18 years of age only if they have will be cared for in Australia by a parent or suitable nominated relative.
