The Diploma of Business (BSB50207) provides students with the opportunity to develop their skills and knowledge across a range of business areas and functions. The qualification is suitable for those wishing to improve their employability or who wish to pursue further studies. Students will gain time management skills, learn how to manage budgets, prepare professional business documentation, and gain the knowledge and skills to manage and improve business information systems and processes.
This course is scheduled over two terms (19 weeks) with a 3-week break between the terms. Commencements in term IV will include a summer break.
The course is offered on a full-time basis (20 hours per week). Delivery of the course consists of
Off-campus and on-line learning activities are supported by a minimum of 4 hours of timetabled trainer support per week.
Students are encouraged to fully participate in the timetabled off-campus trainer support sessions and utilise this support mechanism to clarify assessment requirements or outcomes, review or clarify class materials or presentations, confirm understanding of course requirements or seek assistance with assignment preparation.
The off-campus component of the qualification delivery will provide students with the necessary independent research skills to prepare them for undergraduate study if they choose to pursue further studies at an undergraduate level.
Classes are timetabled on a day and/or evening schedule. Prospective students’ enquiries about timetable availability should be directed to the CIC admissions department.
Students may be able to shorten the length of their chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training. AQF Qualifications or Accredited Courses and Statements of Attainment issued by other registered education providers are recognised by Cambridge International College.
Students are advised of the assessment requirements at the beginning of each unit.
The assessment process will include a variety of tasks to demonstrate competence in the required skills and knowledge. Projects and practical assessments will be the major form of assessment and there is a combination of individual and group assessment tasks which aim to replicate as much as possible the reality of performing in a workplace.
Assessment continues throughout the program until the student either achieves competency in the assessment tasks or further training needs are identified and addressed. Students will be counselled as to their progress throughout the delivery of the unit and at the end of each 9-week delivery period.
CIC has a range of academic and welfare student services which are offered to students at no additional cost.
Graduates of the Diploma of Business will obtain practical skills and knowledge in business operations which can lead to job roles such as administrator, office manager, project officer, personal assistant or executive officer in a variety of industries.
Students who complete the Diploma of Business will be well prepared to undertake the (072493M) Bachelor of Business (Management), (072490C) Bachelor of Business (Accounting) or (072491B) Bachelor of Business (Marketing) at Cambridge International College.
Students who complete the (BSB51107) Diploma of Management at CIC will be able to complete the (BSB50207) Diploma of Business in a shorter timeframe via credit transfer arrangements. Contact CIC for information about this option.
