Yes. Students can work a maximum of 20 hours per week during their course and unlimited hours during official course holidays. Please refer to www.immi.gov.au for more information.

Q: Can I study with CIC if I don't have an IELTS score?

Yes. You can study English language at CIC without an IELTS score. However, all CIC vocational courses have an IELTS entry requirement, which must be met to gain entry. If you do not have a current IELTS score you may still qualify if you have an equivalent English language score. You can also study English at CIC to assist you to gain the required English language level. Please contact the college for a list of relevant equivalencies.

Q: Can I pay my tuition fees in instalments?

CIC offers all students a number of payment options depending on their chosen course. Please refer to the Student Finance Information section or contact the College or authorised College representative for further information.

Q: How much is the deposit I need to pay to get a Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) for an application submitted onshore or offshore?

All English Language tuition fees must be paid in full in advance (onshore and offshore). The deposit for studying vocational courses is one semester's tuition fee for offshore and one term's fee for onshore applications. Please refer to the Tuition Fees Information section for more information.

Q: What is the refund policy if I choose not to study or my visa application is refused?

Q: What is the cost of living in Australia?

Please refer to the living costs section of our website found under each CIC destination.

Q: If I cannot arrive on the start date what should I do?

You should notify the College immediately and we will make amendments to your enrolment and notify The Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC). If you do not contact us we will assume you are not coming and cancel your eCOE. This will lead to your student visa being subject to cancellation.

Q: What support services are available at CIC and when can I use them?

Q: What is the course attendance requirement at CIC?

If you are a student visa holder and studying a course at CIC, you must attend a minimum of 80% of your classes. Not maintaining satisfactory attendance may result in the cancellation of your visa.

Q: How can I find out about my timetable?

Your timetable will be given to you at your course orientation.

Q: Do I need Overseas Student Health Cover?

Yes. It is a student visa requirement that you have OSHC for the entire duration of your studies in Australia. Information on how to order your card will be provided to you at orientation. Log on to http://www.oshcworldcare.com.au for more information.

Please note that from the 1 July 2010 students must obtain OSHC for the proposed duration of their student visa prior to the student visa being granted. If for instance, you apply for a student visa for a period of 3 years, then you are required to provide evidence of OSHC for the full 3 years period prior to visa is grant.

Q: Where can I find information about employment during my studies?

Q: What is the average class size?

The average class size varies, depending on the course. General English programs are normally run with between 12 - 15 students but never more than 18. Vocational courses are delivered to groups of an average of 25 students.

Q: Can I defer my course?

Yes. You can defer the start date of your course if you have good reasons. Contact the Admissions Department or ask your agent to submit a pre-course commencement deferral form. This must be done before the course start date.

Q: What do I need to bring on my first day?

Please bring along a pen, writing pad, your passport and course eCOE.

Q: How many nationalities study at CIC?

At any one time CIC has students from over 40 nationalities studying across all campuses.

Q: Can I start my course early?

No. Unfortunately, in most cases, it is not possible to start your course early.
