Melbourne is a reasonably priced city with good quality accommodation and affordable day to day living, although this does depend upon the lifestyle chosen. However, The Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) suggests that students will need a minimum of $AUD18,000 per year (not including tuition) to cover living expenses.

Accommodation
Approximately $100 - $300 per week for a room in a share house close to the city centre. The College can assist students with different forms of accommodation.
Students can find many different types of food in Melbourne including a full range of Asian, European and other International cuisines. Meals in most average restaurants cost approximately AUD$10.00 However this may vary depending on the season, suburb and quality of the eatery.
Fast foods such as McDonald's, KFC, Pizza Hut, Nando's, Subway, Burger King are also available and generally range from around AUD$6.00 - AUD$12.00
Supermarkets and convenience stores are plentiful in the city centre and surrounding suburbs which stock fresh produce such as meat, vegetables and fruit.
Mobile Phone
Students can obtain a range of mobile phone offers in Australia including pre-paid and post paid services. If you own a mobile phone in your country you may wish to check with your provider to see if you can use it when you arrive to Australia.

Access to public telephone is plentiful in the CBD. Local calls cost approximately 50 cents per call. Students wishing to call overseas can do so relatively cheaply by purchasing an international calling card. Call costs start at around 1 cent per minute depending on the destination and or card. Cards can be purchased at most convenience stores in the CBD.
The College offers all its students, free internet access and some WIFI facilities. There is also a range of internet cafes as well as free WIFI access in public libraries as well as some private cafes.
Entertainment
Melbourne is a vibrant city with a good range of entertainment options for students wishing to enjoy different activities in their free time. Restaurants bars and clubs make up the most popular destinations for students wishing to experience Melbourne nightlife seven days a week.
Melbourne also offers a great range of outdoor activities for students who like to get out and explore. Beaches, National Parks and some of the country's best wineries are all within easy access form the city centre.
Banking for Students
Most of Australia's major banks offer free accounts for students wishing to hold an Australian bank account. Most accounts can be opened by presenting your passport and student card at any bank branch.
