Mode of Delivery
All of the full time courses include 20 classroom contact hours per week PLUS up to 5 extra hours FREE. These EXTRA classes comprise hour long sessions in areas such as Pronunciation, Grammar, Listening and Discussion and are designed for specific levels. In addition, there are FREE tutorials enabling students to study one-to-one with their teacher or in very small groups.
Entry to the English Programs
During Orientation, students are tested for proficiency in the broad skill areas of Speaking, Listening, Reading, Writing and Grammar and are placed in the appropriate level. All English programs other than General English require a sufficient level of English proficiency for entry. Students may contact the college or their representative if they wish to take an English placement test prior to arrival. Note however, that all students are tested upon arrival to confirm their English language level.
Assessment/Progress Testing
At the end of the 5 week study blocks, students are progress tested and then attend an interview with their teacher to discuss how to further develop their strengths and improve any weaker areas. Students are promoted to the next level on the basis of their successful particpation in class and their satisfactory achievement of required assessment tasks.
