All students are required to attend Orientation. During Orientation students have the opportunity to ask questions about their course and about living in Australia

Orientation for students enrolled into an English course is held on the first day of their course. Orientation for students enrolled into vocational courses is held in the first week of their course. During Orientation students will be given information and introduced to staff that can assist them to meet course requirements, meet student visa requirements and assist them to adjust to living in Australia.

The following is included in the Orientation Program:

• Welcome by College Management
• Introduction to the Course Leader
• Copy of the Student Handbook
• Advice on how to make the most of your studies to assist you to successfully complete your studies
• Information on assessment tasks, e.g. tests, essays, practical assessment tasks
• What is expected of you from your teachers and other staff
• Timetable allocation and class timetables
• Student services and support services including the job club, accommodation and activities.
• CIC in-house counselling service and external counselling and support services
• Student visa conditions including attendance, course progress and current contact details
• Student Complaints and Appeals processes including role of independent International Student Conciliator
• Information about applying for an approved period of suspension of studies
• Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) information
• Information about course fees, including fees due date and how to pay
• Issuing of the student ID card
